This page provides information and links for pharmacists who are interested in taking the Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP) examination. In 2017, the format of the geriatric examination will continue as it has previously, with 150 multiple-choice questions. In 2018, the plan is to have the geriatric examination fully integrated into the Board of Pharmacy Specialties format, with 175 multiple-choice questions.
The BCGP examination is a computer-based exam that consists of 150 multiple-choice questions and is administered over a three-hour period at test centers throughout the United States, Canada, and in other countries around the world. A list of test centers is available here. This link may take a minute or two to load.
To be eligible for the certification examination in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice, an applicant must currently be a licensed pharmacist and must have a minimum of two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist.

Studying for the Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist Examination
Candidates who are interested in taking the BCGP exam often ask about how to prepare for the exam. CCGP has prepared a list of live and online geriatric continuing education resources for preparation at this link.
An additional list of key geriatric resources, including journal articles, and links to geriatric books and clinical practice guidelines, is also available on the CCGP website.
The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists has an online review course in geriatric pharmacy practice. CCGP is not involved in the development or offering of these modules, but information is provided here as a service to candidates who may be interested in knowing about this resource.
Preparing to Take the Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist Examination
When ready to apply for the exam, candidates may register to take the BCGP examination at the CCGP online application.
After a pharmacist is registered to take the BCGP examination on the CCGP website, candidate data will be uploaded via secure server to CCGP's test partner, Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP). AMP will contact the candidate via e-mail to provide information about next steps. Check the AMP candidate web page for a variety of useful information and links for exam candidates.
