Dr. Strang is a clinical pharmacist at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He is also a Clinical Instructor in Pharmacy Practice at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy.
The CCGP Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award recognizes the board-certified geriatric pharmacist who fosters the principles of good pharmacy practice; demonstrates excellence in geriatric patient care; and promotes the value and rigorous standards established by CCGP. The award will be presented at an awards ceremony to be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 29, 2015.
“With the increasing prevalence of elderly patients in hospitals, Certified Geriatric Pharmacists are especially needed in the hospital setting,” said Thomas R. Clark, Executive Director of the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy. “Brian Strang is an excellent example of the kind of pharmacist that more hospitals need. We are very pleased that he was chosen as this year’s recipient.”
Strang graduated from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, magna cum laude. He is currently Chair-elect of the CCGP Professional Development Committee.
The Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy (CCGP) is a nonprofit corporation created by the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) in 1997. CCGP offers a board certification examination in geriatric pharmacy practice. CCGP is autonomous from ASCP, with its own governing Board of Commissioners, and is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
