Chris Alderman, BPharm, PhD, FSHP, CGP, BCPP, has been chosen by the Board of Commissioners of the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy as the 2016 recipient of the CCGP Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award.
Dr. Alderman is currently Clinical Director for Ward Medication Management, the largest provider of clinical pharmacy services in Aged Care sector in Australia, and Associate Professor at University of South Australia. Currently Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research, he is a past Chair of the Board of the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy. With more than 25 years of experience as a specialist clinical pharmacist in psychiatry, he holds specialist qualifications in psychiatry and geriatric pharmacy. The author of over 130 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters, he co-authored the textbook: Psychopharmacology – Practice and Contexts.
The CCGP Excellence in Geriatric Pharmacy Practice Award recognizes the board-certified geriatric pharmacist who fosters the principles of good pharmacy practice; demonstrates excellence in geriatric patient care; and promotes the values and rigorous standards established by CCGP. The award will be presented at an awards ceremony to be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists in Dallas, Texas on November 3, 2016.

The Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy (CCGP) is a nonprofit corporation created by the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) in 1997. CCGP offers a board certification examination in geriatric pharmacy practice. CCGP is autonomous from ASCP, with its own governing Board of Commissioners, and is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.
